Leading up to the 10,000 students' protest against electoral violence organized by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC) on Friday, August 23, 2024, the Edo State Police Command has promised the students maximum security.
During a courtesy visit to his office in Benin City on Tuesday, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Nemo Edwin-Iwo, assured the members of NANS, Edo State, of the security measures in place.
Comrade O. S. Isioma, the Director of Press in the Office of NANS Chairman, stated that the student leaders, led by Comrade (Amb.) Ehis Daniel Omuokhonlen, expressed their appreciation for the CP's reassurance.
CP Edwin-Iwo guaranteed the deployment of substantial human and operational resources to protect the students and maintain law and order, while also cautioning potential troublemakers.
Chairman Ehis Daniel Omuokhonlen expressed gratitude for the CP's warm reception and collaboration, and outlined specific plans for the protest and the approved routes to the police command.
The meeting was attended by members of NANS, Edo State (Office of the Chairman), and senior police officers.
