The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally arrested Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State, after forcing their way into his Abuja house.
At 6:48 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, Okorocha, who had previously refused to be taken away by the agents, saying that he would not surrender himself to the anti-graft agency without a warrant, was detained and hauled away.
The EFCC's spokesperson, Wilson Uwajuren, had said earlier that the anti-graft agency's operatives were at the Senator's home to bring him to stand trial before a federal high court in Abuja for allegedly conspiring with five companies and others to steal N2.9bn in public funds.
Other defendants standing trial in the case include Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited.
