On Wednesday morning, a five-storey building under construction in Onitsha, Anambra State, tragically collapsed.
The incident occurred around 7:15 am at DMGS Junction, near the well-known Dennis Memorial Grammar School.
The exact cause of the collapse has yet to be determined. However, eyewitnesses and bystanders who observed the aftermath from across the road speculated that the use of substandard materials might be to blame. One source reported, “I was going to work this morning when I saw it. The entire building came down in rubbles. I don’t think there were casualties in the building because work was not ongoing on the project this morning.”
It is yet to be confirmed if there were any casualties resulting from the collapse. Further investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause and impact of the incident.
