Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has cautioned candidates for political office from utilizing the Eid celebrations to launch campaigns or post posters, claiming that such behavior is a blatant breach of the electoral Act.
The Governor reaffirmed the prohibition on posting posters at Eid prayer locations and other events, such the customary Hawan Daushe at the Emir's Palace.
Such behaviors are not only distractions but also in violation of the electoral Act, according to a statement from the governor Friday night that was signed by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba.
According to him, the Sallah celebrations are exclusively religious and cultural events meant to highlight the rich cultural legacy, and people from all political backgrounds and international visitors attend.
The governor instructed security organizations to take appropriate action against anyone who disturbs the celebration's general peace.
