All unlicensed health technology colleges in Adamawa State have been placed on indefinite suspension by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

The affected private colleges are immediately prohibited from operation.

The governor ordered the closure of the "unregistered and unaccredited" private colleges of health on Tuesday following a meeting in Yola.

Shortly after a meeting where the heads of tertiary institutions were present, Fintiri informed Government House correspondents in Yola of the new development.

He said the activities of the colleges would remain blocked until the affected institutions met stipulated requirements and were certified by the Ministry of Health.

The Governor further announced that the College of Health Technology in Mubi would immediately move to its rightful location in Michika.

The Daily Post on July 26, 2023, reported that the Adamawa State House of Assembly had set plans in motion to probe some 19 colleges of health alleged to have been established in different parts of the state without due process.

The Assembly had commenced an investigation into the operations of the said colleges, mandating its Committee on Health and that of Education to track the activities of the institutions.

The joint committee was tasked with specifically investigating the minimum standard of operation, the courses being offered, and whether they were licensed by relevant authorities.
