The incident happened yesterday at Old Express Road by Faulks near Samek Junction at Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State.

According to eyewitnesses, the hoodlums ambushed the commissioner while he was returning from a meeting with the leaders of various markets in Aba. The Director of Media to the Deputy Speaker of Abia State was quoted to have said that the remains of the murdered police officers had been deposited in the mortuary.

Meanwhile, a video of the incident seen by SaharaReporters on Wednesday morning shows a police vehicle on fire while the remains of one of the slain cops were on the ground in a pool of blood.

Bystanders are overheard lamenting the attack. Someone said, "Whoever kills by the sword will surely die by the sword."

Meanwhile, the state police command has confirmed the attack and promised to apprehend those behind the attack.
