Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim, Ebuka Udemba, a 25-year-old from Umuokpa in the Obowo LGA, was subjected to torture and confined in the generator room of the guest house by the suspect and two accomplices who are currently at large. Tragically, Udemba suffocated to death while in captivity, accused of stealing a customer's handset.

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the SCID to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Udemba's death.
