The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress is split on whether the party should nominate a consensus presidential candidate.

Members of the NWC convened on Tuesday, according to Naijacrawl, in accordance with President Muhammadu Buhari's (retd.) direction that a consensus candidate be chosen following deliberation.
A candidate was announced as Buhari's candidate during the meeting, but members of the NWC booted him out.
Ahmed Lawan was named as the consensus candidate, according to a member of the NWC.
Other members, he claimed, fought back, causing a schism among the NWC members.
