He was arrested around Sapele road in Benin city by men of the Edo State police command. Reports have it that a female undergraduate of one of the tertiary institutions in Edo State hired Akpan on 23 July 2021 to the Ugbor area towards Airport road.

The rider was engaged around 8 pm, and merely halfway into the journey, Confidence diverted to an alone and quiet road, claiming the road was not motorable, and some minutes later the rider brought up a cutlass and threatened to kill the lady, and during the process robbed the girl of her money and her iPhone.

Meanwhile, the incident took a different tune when Confidence demanded to have sex with his victim, leading to a struggle. The suspect overpowered his victim and allegedly raped her in an uncompleted building, and fled the scene.

The victim, whose name is not mentioned due to the sensitivity of the case, said “I called the “Keke NAPEP” man to carry me towards where I can get a taxi to Sapele Road.

“We agreed, and he took me only for me to see him with çutlass, insisting that he must sleep with me or have me killed.

“I have no choice than to surrender quickly. He slept with me in the bush, which has an uncompleted building".
