In a decisive crackdown on illegal oil activities, the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) Escravos has dismantled three illicit refining sites in Delta State.
The targeted sites, located in Obodo, a riverine community in Warri South West Local Government Area, contained an estimated 3,700 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,600 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO). These were stored in five refining ovens, 12 dug-out pits, and 33 polythene sacks.
FOB Escravos’ Commanding Officer, Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu, led the high-impact operation, which was executed under the ongoing Operation Delta Sanity II, following credible intelligence reports.
“This successful raid underscores our unwavering commitment to the Strategic Directives of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral E. I. Ogalla. We will continue to root out all forms of illegal activities in Nigeria’s maritime environment,” Okoloagu stated.
He also issued a stern warning to economic saboteurs in the oil sector, vowing that the Navy will leave no room for illegal operations.
With intensified efforts against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and economic sabotage, the Nigerian Navy remains committed to restoring order in the country’s vital oil sector.
