Nigeria, under President Muhammadu Buhari, has surpassed Iraq as the country with the most Islamic State attacks (IS).
This was revealed in a Jihad Analytics report on global and cyber jihad. Half of the attacks claimed by IS since the beginning of 2022 were in Africa, according to the company that processes data on global and cyber jihad.
According to Jihad Analytics, the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), an IS affiliate, is also becoming increasingly active in Nigeria.
Since January 2022, Nigeria has registered 162 IS operations, while Iraq has recorded 120.
