The Nigerian Immigration Service is set to inaugurate a Passport Front Office in the Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, today (Friday), marking a significant step towards enhancing passport application processes and reducing waiting times.

The new Igbogbo Passport Office is strategically positioned on Owolabi Sodara Street, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Igbogbo, and is expected to play a crucial role in alleviating congestion at the Ikoyi Passport Office. To be unveiled around 12:30 pm today, the facility is designed to accommodate up to 200 applicants simultaneously, aiming to streamline the application process and enhance overall efficiency.

In a telephone interview with The PUNCH on Thursday, Deputy Comptroller Muyiwa Odunubi, the Passport Control Officer for the Nigerian Immigration Service at Igbogbo Passport Office, highlighted the immediate benefits of the new front office. He emphasized that the capturing process will take place at the Igbogbo facility, while production will initially be carried out at the Ikoyi Passport Office.

Odunubi revealed, “We have more than 30 staff for now. We will bring more as time goes on, depending on where we may have lapses.” He expressed gratitude to the community, acknowledging the support of the monarch of Igbogbo, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiudeen Kasali, as well as the chiefs and members of the Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA) for their collaborative efforts in realizing the establishment of the passport office in the area.

Commending the community's commitment to the project, Odunubi appealed for ongoing support to ensure the smooth running of operations at the Igbogbo Passport Office. As the front office is inaugurated, it marks a significant milestone in the Nigerian Immigration Service's efforts to enhance accessibility and streamline passport services for the benefit of the public.
