The attack on the Medium Security Custodial Center in Kuje, Abuja, was captured on camera and broadcast by the Islamic State's West Africa Province (ISWAP).
At around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, dozens of terrorists broke into the prison and operated inside for over two hours.
Attackers carrying bombs, grenades, and assault rifles rushed the government building.
The clip shows some vehicles on fire, and the militants can be heard celebrating after breaking into the building.
Several terrorists and other tough offenders who were convicted or on remand were released as a result of the penitentiary's incursion.
443 of the 879 detainees who fled, according to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), have been found.
Public Relations Officer, Umar Abubakar, said 551 inmates are currently in the facility, with 4 inmates dead and 16 injured.
An officer of the NSCDC paid the ultimate price, while at least eight NCoS officers were wounded.
