Special Forces under Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) have neutralized five bandits in the Dantarau area of Kajuru Local Government Area.

Samuel Aruwan, the State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

The troops conducted special fighting patrols in the Kachia-Kajuru axis, focusing on clearing the Maro-Enugu area spanning Kachia and Kajuru LGAs. During the operation in Dantarau community, the troops engaged with bandits, resulting in a sharp exchange of fire that led to the neutralization of five criminals.

The troops recovered significant weaponry from the encounter, including two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated sub-machine gun, nine AK-47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and two handheld radio sets.

In a related operation, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch successfully targeted bandit camps in the Sabon Birnin Daji area of Igabi LGA. Credible intelligence sources confirmed that several bandits were neutralized, with some sustaining injuries and reportedly seeking medical support in the vicinity.

The government has urged locals to refrain from providing medical assistance to suspicious individuals and to report any such activities to the nearest security agencies. Citizens are encouraged to use the 24-hour Operations Room hotline numbers: 09034000060 and 08170189999.

Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, expressed his satisfaction with the operation's success. He praised the troops, led by Major General MLD Saraso, General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army, for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the security of the state.
