Reports have emerged of a disturbing incident involving the invasion of the Anambra State Vigilante (AVG) office in Amichi, located in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state.
According to witnesses, a group of hoodlums, whose identities remain unknown, descended upon the premises at approximately 7 am on Thursday. Their actions resulted in the tragic burning of an unidentified middle-aged man who was found within a vehicle belonging to AVG operatives.
Details surrounding the attack remain scarce, and the motive behind the assailants' actions has yet to be fully established.
Confirmation of the incident was provided through a circulating video on social media, depicting the engulfed vehicle and a distressed voice urgently calling for the state fire service.
In response to inquiries, the spokesperson for the state police, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, acknowledged the attack but indicated that comprehensive details were not immediately available.
"While the attack did occur, we are currently piecing together the full extent of the situation. Our personnel are actively working to restore calm to the affected area. Further updates will be provided as soon as possible," Ikenga assured.
