In yet another harrowing incident of insecurity, armed hoodlums, suspected to be kidnappers, targeted a family, resulting in the tragic death of an unidentified man as he was traveling with his family in Enugu State.

The assailants, armed and dangerous, attacked the family along the Afa/Egede Road in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake.

Reports from sources on the ground indicate that the armed gunmen ambushed the family, instantly killing the man on the spot. Shockingly, the wife and daughter of the victim were abducted by the assailants, adding a distressing layer to the already tragic event.

The incident occurred on March 10, and the Enugu State Police command's spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the heartbreaking event. Ndukwe stated that the police are actively engaged in a manhunt for the armed hoodlums and are working tirelessly to secure the release of the kidnapped victims.

"Manhunt of the armed men and rescue of the two reportedly abducted victims are ongoing. Further development will be communicated," assured Ndukwe.

This latest incident underscores the persistent and alarming state of insecurity that has gripped Nigeria for the past twelve years. The country has witnessed a series of attacks from various criminal elements, including terrorists, bandits, armed men, herdsmen, armed robbers, and unknown masked assailants, affecting virtually all 36 states.

In response to the escalating insecurity, Nigerian security personnel have been actively involved in operations aimed at apprehending, arresting, and countering the activities of these hoodlums. The challenges, however, persist, leaving citizens vulnerable to these acts of violence.

Amidst the grim realities, reports have emerged of kidnappers using poisonous snakes to terrorize their victims. Recently freed hostages revealed that kidnappers strategically placed them in snake-infested areas, exploiting the natural fear of snakes to intimidate and control the victims.

As the nation grapples with the pervasive issue of insecurity, communities are left anxiously awaiting tangible solutions and effective measures to address the root causes and protect the lives of citizens. Stay tuned for further updates on this distressing situation.
