Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has earned a prestigious nod for the Forward of the Year award at the upcoming Gran Galà del Calcio.

This recognition follows his spectacular performances for Atalanta during the 2023/24 season, as reported by The PUNCH.

The 27-year-old is also in the running for the coveted 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. He faces tough competition from Inter Milan's Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, and other standout players.

Lookman’s nomination is a testament to his incredible form last season, where he became Europe’s most productive attacking player in the final stages of the campaign. From April onwards, he delivered a remarkable 14 goal contributions (eight goals and six assists), surpassing any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.

The highlight of his season came during the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, where Lookman netted a historic hat-trick. His overall stats for the season stood at an impressive 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.

Lookman has carried his momentum into the current season, already racking up eight goals and five assists in just 14 appearances for Atalanta.

His consistent brilliance has also earned him a place among the final five nominees for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award, alongside Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams.

The Gran Galà del Calcio, hosted by the Italian Players’ Association, celebrates excellence in Italian football, with winners chosen by members of the association. The event is set to take place on December 2, 2024, solidifying Lookman’s place among football’s elite.
