Oluwatobiloba Amusan has been named the best women’s athlete in Africa and the fifth-best athlete in the world by the World Athletics Federation.
Amusan shot to international prominence following her impressive performances at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America.
The 24-year-old claimed a gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles and also set a new world record of 12.22 seconds.
The Ogun State-born athlete also successfully defended her Diamond League title and won gold in the 100-meter hurdles at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Jamaica’s track queen, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, occupies the first position on the ranking table.
Her compatriot, Shericka Jackson, is second, with Yulimar Rojas and Sydney McLaughlin in third and fourth positions, respectively.
