Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell reacted to his red card during their Champions League quarterfinal clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday.
The England international apologized to his teammates after he was sent off during the game at Santiago Bernabeu.
While Chelsea was battling to level Karim Benzema’s first-half goal, Chilwell plunged his team into further difficulty when he was sent off shortly before the hour mark.
The former Leicester City star hauled down Rodrygo and denied the Real Madrid forward a clear goalscoring opportunity.
He took to social media on Thursday to reflect on the matter, tweeting, “Slept on it, and just want to apologize to my teammates and the fans.
“I made the decision in a split second last night, and it was a mistake. I always give everything to the team, and I will continue to do so. "Thank you for the support.”
