England midfielder, Lauren James, apologised to her teammates following her red card against Nigeria in a last-16 clash at the 2023 World Cup.

According to the UK Mirror, the 21-year-old said sorry in the dressing room after the game in Brisbane.

The red card could see James miss the rest of the tournament.

The Chelsea star was dismissed in the 70th minute for stamping on Michelle Alozie.

This meant the Lionesses played the remaining 50 minutes of the game with 10.

However, England were able to defeat the Super Falcons on penalties to qualify for the quarter-final, where they will face Jamaica or Colombia on Sunday.
