Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has spoken of Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial after the team’s win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

The Dutchman said he believes Anthony Martial can have a massive impact in the second half of the season.

Manchester United took a 3-0 lead into Wednesday’s second leg, with Martial and Fred securing a 2-0 win on the night. It ended 5-0 on aggregate over Forest.

They will now play Newcastle United in the final later this month at Wembley, as the Red Devils are now close to ending their almost six-year wait for a trophy.

Sancho and Martial were introduced in the second half and made lively cameos.

Sancho only returned to training after undergoing personal fitness training, but Ten Hag was delighted to see the reception he got from Red Devils fans.

Ten Hag told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I think he enjoyed being back on the pitch." "He has been smiling in the last few weeks in Carrington.”

Martial, for his part, had missed United’s last three matches but returned to action with a goal.

Ten Hag continued: “We know what Antony Martial can do if he is fit, and he isn’t even fit.”

The former Ajax boss suggested that with Anthony Martial fit and in good form, fans would see a different Manchester United lineup.

He said that the player himself would have shown what he is capable of doing if not for injuries.
