The home-based Super Eagles kicked off preparations for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier with a narrow 1-0 victory over Grassrunners FC in a friendly match held in Ikenne on Sunday.

Substitute Papa Daniel emerged as the hero, netting the decisive goal in the second half to secure the win for Nigeria's domestic squad.

Camping for the CHAN qualifier began on Wednesday in Ikenne, with the team expected to play additional warm-up games to fine-tune their strategy before facing Ghana's Black Galaxies.

The first leg of the highly anticipated qualifier is scheduled for Sunday, December 22, at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana. The return leg will take place a week later at Nigeria's Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
