Cristiano Ronaldo’s post-retirement plans have been a hot topic among football fans, and former Manchester United assistant coach Rene Meulensteen believes coaching could be in his future.

The Al-Nassr forward, who is on track to becoming the first male player to score 1,000 career goals, might one day lead Portugal as their national team coach.

At 39, Ronaldo has achieved legendary status, with over 900 career goals to his name. However, as his playing career nears its twilight, many are speculating about his next steps. Could management be on the horizon for the former Manchester United star?

Speaking in an interview with Mega Dice and GOAL, Meulensteen reflected on Ronaldo’s potential for coaching. “I only knew Cristiano when he was breaking into the senior team—a young, ambitious player who made an incredible impact. Does he have the ambition to become a manager? I’m not sure. But would he want to coach Portugal one day? I’d say yes. He’s deeply passionate about representing his country, and I can see him taking on that role.”

While Ronaldo hasn’t hinted at coaching yet, his love for the game and national pride make the idea of managing Portugal a thrilling possibility. Fans and pundits alike are now watching closely to see how the football icon’s journey evolves after his playing days are over.

Could Cristiano Ronaldo bring the same passion and excellence to the sidelines as he does on the pitch? Only time will tell.
