Fulham manager Marco Silva has heaped plaudits on Calvin Bassey following his impressive debut for the club.
Bassey recently completed his move to the Whites from Eredivisie outfit Ajax Amsterdam.
The Nigeria international made his debut for Fulham in the 2-0 pre-season friendly defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
The 23-year-old took to the field after the break with Chelsea already 2-0 up.
Silva was particularly delighted with Bassey’s output in the game.
“I wanted him to start simple so he could have some confidence. And he did it perfectly. If he gets to know his teammates even better and knows the patterns and principles, then he can show even more.
“Also, on the ball, he is a very strong lad. It is only a matter of time before he is fully integrated,” Silva was quoted as saying by Voetbal Flitsen.
Bassey spent just one season at Ajax before switching to Fulham.
The center-back is expected to take the place of Tosin Adarabioyo in the squad.
