Manchester United will try to keep their slim chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League alive when they face Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Arsenal's Mikel Arteta upset Manchester United 3-1 last weekend.

Chelsea, on the other hand, enter the game in high spirits after defeating fellow Londoners West Ham United 1-0 with a last-gasp winner from substitute Christian Pulisic.

Given United's dismal form and injury crisis, the Blues will be more optimistic about bringing up their first victory at Old Trafford since 2013.

Since the beginning of the month, Ralf Ragnick's team has only collected four points out of a possible fifteen.

United have also lost three of their last four games, which has put them at the risk of dropping out of European places entirely.

The former Premier League champions, who currently occupy the sixth position on the log, will be without captain Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Jadon Sancho, Edison Cavani, and Fred for the game.

The fitness of Canadian defender Aaron Wan Bissaka is a major doubt for the game.

For Chelsea, a win in this game will see them open an eight-point gap to fourth-placed Arsenal and give Thomas Tuchel’s side a healthy advantage before meeting Leeds United, Everton, Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Watford before the season is done and dusted.

The West London side will welcome Toni Rudiger and Reece James back from injury, while Andreas Christensen returned to training on Wednesday after missing the West Ham United clash due to illness.
