Manchester United have identified the player they want to sign as forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are targeting a sensational move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe as a potential replacement for Ronaldo in the near future.
Man United are prepared to cut ties with Ronaldo following his explosive interview with British journalist Piers Morgan where he accused the Premier League club of ‘betraying’ him.
Ronaldo also took aim at Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, insisting he does not respect the Dutchman.
Ten Hag has reportedly since told Manchester United’s hierarchy that the Portugal captain should not play for the club again.
As a result, Manchester United had already been drawing up a list of forwards, with a new addition expected to be a priority next summer.
According to Mirror, Man United will now accelerate those plans with an audacious January move for Mbappe now being explored.
The report added that a January move for Mbappe would prove very difficult for Manchester United, but the France international is viewed as a "dream signing" at Old Trafford and the Premier League giants plan to explore the possibility with Ronaldo set to move on.
Meanwhile, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is also on Manchester United’s radar, and the Nigerian international is viewed as a more realistic January target for the Red Devils.
