Michael Carrick set for first managerial job after leaving Man Utd
Middlesbrough is expected to name former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick as Chris Wilder's replacement.
Carrick is reportedly in advanced talks with the Championship team, according to Sportsmail, as he seeks to make his full-time transition into management.
The 41-year-old expressed his disinterest in the position when he spoke with Boro last week, though.
The problems at the time were reportedly with the control of transfers and backroom personnel.
However, Carrick is now edging closer to taking charge of the club.
He could even be in the dugout for Saturday’s visit of Huddersfield, a crucial game in the fight for survival with both teams in the bottom three.
Carrick worked under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford and wants to bring former United assistants Mike Phelan and Rene Muelensteen to the North-East as part of his coaching set-up.
