It was an intriguing weekend in the Nigeria Premier Football League, with the battle for a top-three spot and the relegation fight the major highlights.



The leading teams in Group A—Bendel Insurance, Akwa United, Remo Stars, and Enyimba—all enjoyed contrasting fortunes at the weekend.

Of the quartet, only eight-time champions Enyimba recorded a win.

Insurance, Akwa United, and Remo Stars all drew their games.

The bottom three teams in the group, Kwara United, Nasarawa United, and El-Kanemi Warriors, also enjoyed the same fate.

Nasarawa United and Kwara United picked up good results on the road, while El-Kanemi Warriors lost 1-0 to Gombe United.

In Group B, Lobi Stars returned to winning ways again, while Rivers United held out for a draw against Niger Tornadoes.

Bayelsa United make the biggest push in the relegation fight as they pip Wikki Tourists 2-1 away.
