Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler, has slammed Trent Alexander-Arnold following the club’s ’embarrassing’ Champions League defeat to Napoli on Wednesday night.
Fowler accused the England right-back of being more attack-minded while abandoning his defensive duties.
Jurgen Klopp’s side began their Champions League campaign with a hugely disappointing 4-1 defeat in Naples.
The result would have been worse except that Alisson had Victor Osimhen’s penalty saved, with the Italians also hitting the post.
As Fowler said on BT Sport: “Joe Gomez will get all the stick, but look at the lack of desire from Trent."
“You can’t call him out going forward, but defensively we can pick him apart because he doesn’t show the same desire to get back as he does to get forward, and that’s wrong."
“Liverpool were shocking defensively.”
