Ronaldo: I feel sorry for Manchester United – Peter Schmeichel
Legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel of Manchester United has stated that he does not want Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the team.
Schmeichel hopes that all parties to the current crisis will work together to find a peaceful solution.
The Red Devils hierarchy, the manager, and even the club's owners came under fire from Ronaldo during an explosive interview he gave to renowned journalist Piers Morgan this past week.
He revealed he has "no respect" for Erik ten Hag and accused them of "betraying" him and mismanaging the club in numerous ways.
Manchester United said they are currently investigating the issues raised by the veteran striker and will decide their next steps.
Reports in England say that Ten Hag has already made up his mind that the Portugal international must go.
“I believe in fairytales. "I'm a big, big fan of Ronaldo – and I’m a big fan of Manchester United having the best players in the world,” Schmeichel told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast.
“I hope there will be an opportunity where his people and Manchester United can sit down and talk this through and find a solution, because I really want Cristiano to stay a Manchester United player.
”I feel really sorry for Manchester United, United fans, and Ronaldo that this has come out the way it has.”
