Shakhtar Donetsk Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Serhiy Palkin has revealed the very warning he gave to Chelsea when they were trying to sign Mykhailo Mudryk from the Ukrainian club in the winter transfer window.
Palkin said he has no regrets about the player’s move to Stamford Bridge and insisted that there is also no surprise about his underwhelming start in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old was said to be heading to Arsenal, but Chelsea swept in and landed him in a deal worth over eighty-nine million pounds.
Mudryk has made no impact in his nine appearances so far for the Blues, and Palkin revealed he met Mudryk last week and confirmed the player remains in high spirits.
He told Sky Sports: “A week ago in England, I met Mykhailo Mudryk, and he is very happy.
“I said from the beginning, I spoke to the owners of Chelsea, and I told them you’ve got a real diamond, but you should be very, very patient. "Give this guy time and he will show you what he can bring to the club.”
