Following their altercation during the 2-2 tie between Chelsea and Tottenham on Sunday, Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have been charged with improper conduct.
The thrilling game between the two teams took place at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea twice had the lead and will likely feel like they should have won, but Tottenham remained competitive and earned a win with a late goal from Harry Kane.
But the argument between the two managers was the main topic of conversation.
When Kai Havertz was fouled before Antonio Conte's team advanced and scored on the Spurs, the tenseness was ignited. The first argument between the two managers resulted from that, and it persisted after full-time.
Tottenham's second equalizer also occurred under questionable circumstances when Cristian Romero tugged on Marc Cucurella's hair just before Spurs were given a corner. After the final whistle, Tuchel was incensed after the North London team scored from the aforementioned corner.
When Conte went to shake Tuchel’s hand after the match, the German decided to not let go of the Italian, resulting in a brawl between the two clubs.
The FA responded to the incident on Monday and released a statement that reads, via 90min: “Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have both been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3, following the Premier League fixture between Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC on Sunday August 14, 2022."
“It is alleged that the behaviour of both managers was improper following the end of the fixture."
“Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have until Thursday, August 18, 2022, to provide their respective responses.”
As the two coaches were sent off after the match, the pair will miss their club’s fixtures this weekend.
