Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has hinted that striker Folarin Balogun will be given more opportunities to stake a claim for a role in his squad on their pre-season tour of America.
Balogun has just two years left on his current contract with Arsenal and wants a guarantee of regular first-team football.
The USA international impressed at Reims last season on loan at the French Ligue 1 club, scoring 21 goals.
Asked about Balogun’s future following Arsenal’s pre-season friendly 1-1 draw against Nurnberg on Thursday, Arteta said in his post-match press conference: “Well, this is what he has been doing, and that is why we gave him the minutes that he deserves to show what he can do. He is just staying here with us at the moment, and we will see what happens.”
Balogun has been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer, with a host of top European clubs interested in signing him.
