Lazio president Claudio Lotito has revealed that head coach Maurizio Sarri vetoed a deal for Manchester United midfielder Fred.

Fred is expected to leave Manchester United this summer, and Lazio expressed interest in bringing the Brazilian to Italy.
But Sarri, a former Chelsea manager, blocked the deal.
“I was prepared to open talks with Manchester United and bid for Fred, but Maurizio Sarri told me no; he does not want Fred,” Lotito told Messaggero.
He added, “He did the same with [Giovani] Lo Celso... Sarri wants [Piotr] Zielinski and [Samuele] Ricci.”
Fred joined Manchester United from Shakhtar Donetsk back in 2018, and the Premier League giants are reportedly keen to sell him this summer transfer window.
