Dani Parejo, a Villarreal midfielder, has blamed Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann for the Bundesliga giants' Champions League quarter-final second leg defeat on Tuesday.
Villarreal destroyed Bayern Munich's chances of winning the Champions League this season by defeating the Germans 1-2 on aggregate.
The loss, according to Parejo, was caused by the German manager's contempt for Villarreal.
Villarreal won 1-0 in the first leg last week, and Samuel Chukwueze's late goal on Tuesday night sealed a 1-1 draw, ensuring Unai Emery's team a place in the semi-finals.
Nagelsmann's reaction following the Champions League quarter-final draw, according to Parejo, inspired the LaLiga side.
“When the draw was made and they got Villarreal, their coach, whom I don’t know, disrespected not only Villarreal but also football by saying he wanted to settle the tie in the first leg,” Parejo told Movistar.
“It was a lack of respect towards us. Sometimes when you spit up, it falls on your face.”
