The World Boxing Council (WBC) President, Mauricio Sulaiman, has expressed openness to Anthony Joshua vying for the undisputed heavyweight championship against the victor of the Tyson Fury vs.

Oleksandr Usyk clash.

Scheduled for May 18 in Saudi Arabia, the Fury vs. Usyk bout promises to be a monumental showdown, with all the belts on the line. Following this highly anticipated match, a rematch is expected later in the year, further adding to the excitement in the boxing world.

Anthony Joshua, coming off a spectacular second-round knockout victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, stands poised to face the winner of the Fury vs. Usyk showdown.

Sulaiman, speaking to Sky Sports, revealed the WBC's stance on the matter: "The WBC was presented a sanction request which was to fight for the undisputed. The WBC accepted that sanctioning and we accepted the rematch they have requested."

He further elaborated, stating, "But, if it is not anything to do with contractual or promotion, we would absolutely accept the winner to fight Joshua. The WBC position right now is very open to support the undisputed champion taking on the fights that the fans want to see."

Sulaiman's remarks underscore the WBC's commitment to facilitating matchups that resonate with fans and elevate the sport of boxing. As the heavyweight division braces for these pivotal battles, the prospect of Joshua facing off against the undisputed champion adds an intriguing layer to the unfolding narrative in the boxing world.
