Former Chelsea left-back Frank Leboeuf says he is surprised Anthony Martial did not leave Manchester United last summer.
He said the France international should end his World Cup dreams, insisting there would be no place for him in Didier Deschamps' squad.
Despite Erik ten Hag's willingness to use the Frenchman as his pointman this term, injuries have limited the forward to just one start for United.
The 26-year-old came on from the bench to score a brace in the 6-3 Manchester derby defeat and also scored in United’s Europa League win over Omonia.
Despite this, Leboeuf feels the forward should have left Old Trafford last summer as he has "no future" with the Red Devils.
Leboeuf told FairBettingSites: “Anthony Martial won’t be at the World Cup in my view. There are too many other options and players who are playing more."
“He should have left Manchester United last summer." I don’t know why he didn’t, but his future is not at Old Trafford.
“Right now, it’s Marcus Rashford, and if it’s not him, then it’s Cristiano Ronaldo. We’ll see Martial in the Europa League. He’ll get some chances, but probably only because Ronaldo is being punished. "
