According to information gathered from her peers, Shittu ingested insecticide ahead of her upcoming exams, leading to her tragic demise. Despite being rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for treatment, she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Sources revealed that Shittu initially sought help at the school clinic before being referred to the teaching hospital for more extensive care. A staff member from the medical team at UITH, who opted to remain anonymous, confirmed that the student was brought in already deceased.

Colleagues of the deceased disclosed that she was grappling with academic challenges, and she had confided in them about her struggles. The distress escalated to a point where she informed them of ingesting the harmful substance when the pain became unbearable.

A witness who attended the Janazah at the Muslim cemetery, Osere, Ilorin, shared that Rashidat Shittu was laid to rest by family members and employees of the Students Affairs Unit of KWASU.

Upon reaching out to KWASU's Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, for confirmation, she responded via text, stating she was not yet aware of the student's death. Dr. Aliyu promised to investigate the matter and provide information as soon as it is confirmed by the relevant authorities.
