M.
I, a Nigerian rapper, has joined his colleague Ycee in criticizing Rick Ross's event promoters for failing to invite artists.
After seeing clips of Davido, Tiwa Savage, Buju, and other Afrobeats singers performing at Rick Ross' performance, Ycee turned to Twitter to vent. According to him, musicians are switching careers because of their decision to disregard Nigerian rappers at an event arranged by an American rapper.
M. I chose to speak up in response to the videos and Ycee's rant. He expressed his amazement, stating that the Afrobeats industry has never respected HipHop.
M.I noted that he realized this in 2008 when he was paid to perform with Jay Z, Rihanna, and Usher. According to him, these American artists didn’t even respect him as a person, but he had no choice but to continue with the business.
He also used the opportunity to mock his colleagues for not listening to him when he warned them about Afrobeats taking over. According to him, many Nigerian rappers would have benefited more if they had only listened to him.
