A distressing video circulating on social media depicts a horrifying incident where an employee brutally murdered his coworker in broad daylight.
In the footage, the perpetrator confidently severed the victim's stomach and took selfies in Sibanye Stillwater, South Africa, yesterday afternoon.
From the video, it was observed that the suspect was armed with two knives, a larger one and a smaller one. He initially stabbed the victim in the side with the smaller knife before proceeding to decapitate him.
After successfully beheading the victim, the assailant callously kicked the severed head away. Subsequently, he proceeded to open the victim's stomach and consumed something from the man's abdomen. Following these shocking actions, the perpetrator took out his cellphone, sat beside the lifeless body, and captured selfies.
James Wellsted, the Executive Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs at Sibanye-Stillwater, along with Captain SB Sibiya, SAPS Spokesperson in the District, confirmed the incident.
Wellsted stated, "The men are said to have had a history of hostility between them. One man (the victim) was an employee of Sibanye, whilst the other (the suspect) had previously worked for the company but was no longer employed by us."
Although Wellsted couldn't confirm reports that security guards had barred the victim's escape from his assailant, he mentioned that this aspect was still under investigation. He also noted that the gruesome murder occurred just outside Sibanye-Stillwater's property in the informal trading area near the gate.
Captain Sibiya of the SAPS reported that the suspect was arrested and charged with murder.
