A Catholic priest slumps and dies during a football match in asaba.
The Catholic community all over the the country and the Catholic archdiocese of Onitsha has been thrown into mourning over the unforeseen death of one of thier priests Rev Fr Pious Uche Ukor.
The incident happened on Wednesday 4th December 2019 during a novelty match between the Catholic priests of Onitsha archdiocese and Catholic priests of issele uku diocese. Fr pious, happens to be the coach of the Onitsha archdiocese team and was with his team on the field. The match commenced without him showing any sign of sickness but things changed around the 70th minute of the game as the priest collapsed on the stands to the shock of the spectators. He was rushed to the federal medical center asaba but was reported dead on arrival. His friends who spoke with him before the match couldn't still explain what happened as he was fully fit and showed no sign of weakness prior to the match.
Until his death, Fr pious was the editor of the trinitas daily newspaper and the director of social media and communications of the Catholic archdiocese of Onitsha. Fr pious will surely be missed by friends and family as he was been described as a noble and jovial priest.
The burial rites will still be announced by the Catholic archdiocese of Onitsha.

A catholic priest named Charles Igechi, who served under the Benin Catholic Archdiocese, has been reported killed.The priest was shot dead by gunmen on Wednesday along Agbor Road in the Ikhueniro axis of Benin, the Edo capital.A statement on Thursday by the Catholic Archbishop of Benin, Augustine Akubeze confirmed the incident.There is no reason given for the killing of the clergyman.
