"So far, we have recovered over seven bodies," a security source revealed to Sahara Reporters on Monday, noting that the ambush, which began around 4 a.m., overwhelmed the stationed personnel.
This brazen attack is part of an escalating wave of violence attributed to ISWAP, a faction that has grown significantly since the death of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau. Following Shekau’s demise, ISWAP absorbed hundreds of former Boko Haram fighters, consolidating its control around the Lake Chad region and expanding its reach across northeastern Nigeria.
