Unknown gunmen reportedly went on a rampage in different spots in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State on Easter Sunday, killing one person and wounding several others.
The firing reportedly began at Banana Junction and subsequently spread to the popular Nkwu-Ito Junction and its environs, according to Naijacrawl.
As the unknown gunmen shot randomly before the security personnel engaged them, vehicular movements were hindered, and vehicles and other property were apparently affected.
According to a community source, the bandits, who are believed to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), came out to challenge the Ebubeagu Security Outfit, which was claimed to have arrived in Orlu last Saturday.
According to the source, one person was killed in the attack, which occurred at about 12:30 p.m., forcing locals to take cover in their various homes as traffic skirted the main town of Orlu.
The assailants allegedly shot at the tires of a Nigerian Army vehicle near the Judiciary High Court in Orlu, according to him. In Amaifeke Orlu, Ukwu Aki is a well-known brothel. While attempting to restore normalcy in the area, security operatives set fire to the popular Inland Guest House in Orlu.
According to one, Emeka Uba, the danger began when the mysterious gunmen in their midst began moving to various locations within the region.
Uba also told Naijacrawl that “one person in front of a Lexus saloon car was shot dead and his car was destroyed.”
Naijacrawl gathered that passengers heading to Orlu from Owerri, Akwakuma Fly Over to be precise, were all stranded as they waited for hours.
Meanwhile, the police authority is yet to react to the attack as spokesman, Michael Abattam did not pick his phone calls.
