In a devastating incident on Tuesday, the main building of the Kwara State High Court complex fell victim to a fierce fire, leaving 40 offices, three open courts, the registry department, and the litigation office in ruins.

The State Fire Service's spokesperson, Hassan Adekunle, revealed in a statement in Ilorin that the agency received a distress call about the incident at approximately 07:33 hours and promptly initiated a rapid response.

The firefighters worked diligently to combat the flames, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination as they navigated through the engulfed structure. Despite facing considerable challenges, their efforts successfully prevented the complete devastation of the state high court, sparing the community from a potential catastrophic loss.

A subsequent investigation into the cause of the fire pointed to a power surge as the trigger, emphasizing the significance of adhering to electrical safety measures. Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the Director of the State Fire Service, stressed the need for the general public to prioritize safety awareness and precautions in their daily lives.

This unfortunate incident serves as a poignant reminder of the crucial role that vigilance and preparedness play in preventing such tragedies. The swift response by the State Fire Service highlights the importance of well-trained emergency responders in mitigating the impact of disasters and preserving essential institutions within the community.

As the affected parties assess the aftermath and plan for the restoration of the damaged areas, the incident underscores the imperative for continued diligence in electrical safety measures to avert potential disasters in the future.
