Former Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Lawal Yahaya Gumau, has sadly passed away at the age of 57.

Reliable sources confirmed that Gumau breathed his last on Saturday night in Abuja after a brief illness. His passing was officially announced by his former aide, Comrade Haruna Usman Muhammad, on Saturday morning.

The late senator is set to be laid to rest in Abuja on Saturday, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Lawal Yahaya Gumau’s Political Journey

Gumau stepped into the Senate in 2018 after winning a bye-election, filling the seat left vacant by the late Senator Ali Wakili. He successfully retained his position in the 2019 general elections, serving until 2023.

However, his attempt to secure another term in the 2023 elections did not yield success.

Prior to his time in the Senate, Gumau was a two-term member of the House of Representatives, representing Toro Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2018.

His passing marks the end of a significant political career, leaving behind a legacy of public service.

May his soul rest in peace.
