Zamfara State House of Assembly has agreed to redraft some bills earlier approved by the Assembly and sent to Governor Dauda Lawal for his assent.

This followed a message signed by the State Governor in which he raised some observations, seeking for the House to redraft the bills accordingly, as contained in the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, as amended.

Presenting the governor’s message before the legislative chamber, the state chief lawmaker, Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, said that Governor Lawal quoted some relevant sections concerning the redrafting of the bills by the Assembly.

According to the Speaker, the approved bills to be redrafted were a law to provide for the establishment, composition, and function of Zamfara State Schools quality assurance authority and other related matters connected thereto, law number 14, 2024; a law to establish the senior secondary schools education board and other matters connected thereto, law number 16, 2024; and a law to amend the Zamfara State Teachers service board and related matters, number 13, 2022.

Others, according to the Speaker, included a law to amend Zamfara Security Trust Fund Law Number 5 of 2024, as well as a law to provide for Zamfara State local government appropriation Law Number 17, 2024.

“The Governor thanked the members of the State House of Assembly and entire people of Zamfara State for their usual cooperation to his administration’s policies and programmes, the Speaker added.

After presenting the content of the governor’s message, the House standing committees were mandated to study the affected bills.

The House later adjourned its sitting till March 3, 2025.
