A wave of terror swept through the Kajuru-Station community in Kaduna State on Sunday night as terrorists launched a brazen attack, resulting in the abduction of 87 individuals.
Harisu Dari, a member of the Kajuru-Station Youths, confirmed the harrowing incident to our correspondent in Kaduna on Monday. According to Harisu, the terrorists not only abducted scores of villagers but also pillaged shops, looting food items and other valuables in their wake.
The onslaught occurred around 10 pm, plunging the community into chaos and despair. This tragic event follows closely on the heels of another abduction just two days prior, where 15 women and a man were taken captive in the Dogon-Noma community within the same local government area.
The relentless spate of kidnappings in Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas has escalated tensions throughout the state in recent weeks, casting a shadow of fear over residents.
Harisu expressed grave concern over the lack of communication with the abducted locals, underscoring the urgent need for government intervention to restore peace and security in the region. Despite the villagers' traumatic ordeal, he lamented the absence of security operatives to provide much-needed reassurance to the community.
This latest attack adds to the mounting toll of terror in the region, with over 172 villagers abducted by terrorists in the span of just two weeks, as reported
Efforts to obtain an official response from the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, proved futile as calls and messages went unanswered at the time of filing this report.
As the Kaduna community grapples with the relentless onslaught of terrorism, urgent action is imperative to stem the tide of violence and safeguard the lives and livelihoods of innocent civilians.
