After a tenure of about one year and four months, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has made a significant transition by relocating to the Okefia Government House in Osogbo, the official residence of the governor.
Adeleke, who assumed office on Sunday, November 27, 2022, had initially opted to remain in his private residence in Ede, a neighboring town to Osogbo, rather than move into the Government House, despite customary practice among his predecessors. This decision drew criticism from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), but Adeleke stood firm, citing ongoing renovations at the Government House as the reason for his choice.
In a recent statement released by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, it was disclosed that the renovation work had been completed, paving the way for Adeleke to finally take up residence at the official gubernatorial abode.
The extensive rehabilitation covered various aspects of the Government House, including the main building, the refurbishment of an abandoned multi-bedroom guest house, remodelling of existing structures, and the restoration of dilapidated facilities.
Addressing dignitaries at the unveiling ceremony of the renovated Government House, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration's commitment to enhancing state assets, regardless of whether they were inherited or initiated during his tenure. He emphasized the importance of continuity in governance, stressing the need to safeguard and improve upon existing infrastructure for the benefit of present and future generations.
Adeleke highlighted specific achievements, such as the restoration of the abandoned guest house to provide accommodation for visiting officials, and the overhaul of the Presidential Lodge, which was in a state of disrepair upon his assumption of office.
The governor's remarks underscored his administration's dedication to responsible governance and prudent utilization of state resources. By prioritizing the rehabilitation of state assets, Adeleke aims to ensure sustainable development and leave a lasting legacy for the people of Osun State.
As Osun embarks on this new phase with its governor firmly ensconced in the Government House, it signals a renewed commitment to effective leadership and the advancement of the state's interests.
