A stray dog in Abagana community, located in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, played a pivotal role in rescuing a newborn baby boy abandoned in a nearby forest.

According to reports from a source speaking to the Nigerian Tribune, the stray dog stumbled upon the infant nestled in a plastic bag within the forest. Demonstrating incredible intuition, the dog carried the newborn across a busy road and placed him in a public area, likely in hopes of alerting passersby to the infant's plight.

"The dog found the baby in a plastic bag that had been abandoned in the forest. Based on our observations, it seems the baby may have been left in the forest for about two days before the dog discovered him," the source revealed.

Despite the harrowing circumstances, the rescued baby was found to be in good health and stable condition, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the alarming ordeal.

A poignant video shared online captured the poignant moment as a compassionate woman cleansed the newborn, all the while expressing her shock and condemnation toward the unknown individual(s) who callously abandoned the helpless child in the forest, vulnerable to the mercy of wild animals.

Expressing disbelief and indignation, the woman questioned how any mother could conceive a child, carry them for nine months, only to forsake them in such a perilous manner.

The heartwarming rescue serves as a testament to the unwavering bond between humans and animals and underscores the importance of compassion and empathy in safeguarding the most vulnerable members of society. As authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the abandonment, the community rallies together in support of the rescued newborn, offering hope for a brighter future filled with love and care.
