After his lover married another guy, a 42-year-old man named Ibrahim Adamu Mohd committed himself by hanging at Kanti Quarters in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Residents of Kanti reported finding the man with a rope around his neck dangling from a tree when they awoke on Sunday, June 12.

The late DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, a spokesman for the Jigawa State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence on Monday, saying the dead hail from Gayawa village in Kano State's Ungogo LGA.

Mr. Ibrahim, he added, committed suicide by hanging himself in an unfinished building along Daura Road, adjacent to the Baushe filling station in Kazaure town.

A wedding invitation card and two SIM cards, according to the PPRO, were found.

Speaking to Premium Times, the police spokesperson said that the invitation card was that of the girlfriend. 

He said that the family of the man confirmed that the man killed himself because he was heartbroken after his girlfriend married another man. 

Adam said the deceased travelled from neighbouring Kano to commit suicide in the area, saying that was why he was not immediately identified by residents who spotted his body dangling from the tree.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at a mortuary in the Kazaure council area.
